WHAT WE DO
The Northside Coalition of Jacksonville focuses on the problems of social, racial, and economic injustice.
STOP THE VIOLENCE PLAN
Stop The Violence & Increase The Peace
- We believe it will take a new partnership between all shareholders to effectively reduce gun violence in our city.
- There is a direct connection between poverty, unemployment, economic degradation, and gun violence.
- By partnering with local businesses the city and other shareholders could launch new programs to train and hire people who live in certain economically ravaged areas.
- Neighborhood revitalization will reduce gun violence.
- This multi million-dollar plan of social and economic redevelopment could be funded by the public and private sectors.
- We also believe the media and the city should unite to create and launch multimedia “Stop The Violence campaign” for radio and television.
- We are asking all residents to participate in the “Ceasefire Jacksonville plan ” by not taking part in gun violence.
In addition, we perform the following which helps support the community:
- We share information, take a stand and reach out to the public and politicians to help resolve community issues.
- We utilize public forums for debate, discussion and comment.
- We provoke community-led action for worthy causes.
- We bring together people of different ages, professions, skills, and backgrounds to provide volunteer support, different perspectives, ideas, and solutions.
- We are supported by the direct involvement of our neighbors.

- If participating in a nonviolent direct action, such as civil disobedience, we will not run or resist arrest; we will remain accountable for our actions as a means of furthering our witness to injustice.
- Additionally, we require that all individuals considering participation in a nonviolent direct action take appropriate nonviolence training.
