On Friday, July 12, Take ‘Em Down Jax will present “Recasting The Past: From Confederate Monuments to Symbols of Peace” — where Dr. Douglas will share her Charlottesville community’s journey, a process that evoked protests as well as peace. She led the “Swords into Plowshares” initiative, which transformed that statue into ingots for new public art, documented by The Washington Post last October.
